DRUM

 

DRUM MASTER PROGRAMS – RUDIMENTAL, DRUM SET, DJEMBE and DOUMBEK

Dedicating oneself to the discipline of percussive arts can help increase focus and attention span, and enhance learning and mastering of technical information and motor skills. Students will develop life skills in problem solving, interpreting data, individual motivation, and working harmoniously with others. This is a comprehensive program to develop musical skill through progressive levels of achievement.

 

DRUM SET

Beginner through advanced private instruction that focuses on grooves, fills, soloing, and everything else needed to develop a personal drum identity. Enhance creativity, musicality, fluidity, and individuality on the drums.

 

RUDIMENTAL DRUMMING

Basic through advanced drum rudiment training that can be applied to all types of drumming.  N.A.R.D. and P.A.S. rudiments are explored. Not just for marching band!

 

WORLD PERCUSSION - DJEMBE and DOUMBEK

Learn technique, how to execute tones, traditional rhythms and their applications on these drums and related percussion.  Unravel the weave of complex polyrhythms of the djembe orchestra or decode the exotic percussive sounds of belly dance.

with Dave Merritt 
Learn basic technique, how to create the different tones and traditional rhythms on djembe, dounoun & bell.  Join in a djembe orchestra play together to create complex polyrhythmic music.  Great class for dancers too!  Please bring a djembe. Some drums are available to borrow.
Open to all levels of experience.

Celtic Percussion: Bodhrán & Bones
with Dave Merritt

 

Learn traditional and contemporary techniques and styles of the Irish Bodhrán, a drum played throughout the British Isles as a vital part of Celtic Music. This hands on workshop will get you on your way to playing this exciting and ancient instrument. Great for musicians (any level) as well as non-musicians. Also available, technique for playing Bones, a simple instrument found not only in Celtic music, but in North America and Africa.

Middle Eastern Percussion Series
with Dave Merritt 

Learn basic technique, how to create the different tones and a variety of exciting rhythms.  See how the different voices of Middle Eastern percussion work together to create an ensemble sound.  Great class for dancers too!  Please bring a doumbek. Some drums are available to borrow. Open to all levels of experience.
